Achievements

Dr. Zhang’s research focus on pedestrian and evacuation dynamics. The work covers pedestrian modeling, pedestrian movement analysis technique, and dynamics for heterogeneous pedestrianflow including the elderly and the disabled. These works have been supported by two projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China,a project from National Key Research and Development Program of China (Grant No. 2018YFC0808600), a project from the Anhui Provincial Natural Science Foundation and a project from the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities. Dr. Zhang has published more than 40 scientific papers in some of high impact journals in the field like Transportation Research Part CSafety Science etc.and contributed chapters to 3 monographs “Encyclopediaof Complexity and System Science", ”Crowd Dynamics”, “Modeling, Simulation and Visual Analysis of Crowds” published by Springer. He also participated in the development of the open source software JuPedsim which has been widely used by the researched in the field.
